TASTasmania nomination
Tasmania has built its program around genuine, evidenced commitment to the state rather than raw points. Long-term residence, study in Tasmania, and established local employment have all carried real weight.
What connection they want
Tasmania has run streams for Tasmanian graduates, for people already working in Tasmania, and for offshore applicants with job offers - with residence and employment periods that are checked carefully.
How the program behaves
- Tasmania has been comparatively achievable for people with modest points scores who can demonstrate they actually live and work there.
- It has also been strict about genuineness, and has refused nominations where the commitment looked like a points exercise.

Regional postcodes in TAS
These are the designated regional area postcodes for Tasmania, as published by the Department of Home Affairs. Category 2 and Category 3 are both regional; anything not listed is Category 1 and attracts no regional concessions.
| Category | Postcodes |
|---|---|
| Category 2 Cities and major regional centres | 7000, 7004–7026, 7030–7109, 7140–7151, 7170–7177 |
| Category 3 Regional centres and other regional areas | All remaining postcodes in Tasmania. |
Every postcode in Tasmania is regional. Hobart is Category 2; everywhere else is Category 3.

Before you commit to TAS
- Confirm your occupation appears on the current TAS list - state lists are much narrower than the national list.
- Get your skills assessment and English test done. Most states will not consider you without them.
- Work out your points score, then check it against what TAS has recently invited.
- Check whether TAS requires its own registration separate from your SkillSelect EOI.
- Be honest about the commitment. Nomination is granted on the basis that you will live and work there.
Registered migration agents
We are building a directory of MARN-registered agents and immigration lawyers. Listings are checked against the public register before they appear.
How the directory worksPlacement shown on the TAS nomination page.
