Migrating to Australia through Gold Coast

The Gold Coast is regional, despite being a major city - which makes it one of the more attractive regional destinations in the country. You get the 15-point 491 nomination without moving somewhere remote, in a Queensland program that nominates broadly.

Gold Coast is a designated regional areaThe Sunshine Coast carries the same regional status. Brisbane, an hour north, does not.

QLD state nomination

Queensland has historically been one of the more approachable programs, nominating across a broad range of professional and trade occupations, and it usually opens earlier in the program year than the southern states.

Before you engage an agent

  • Confirm their MARN on the public register yourself - do not accept a screenshot.
  • Get a written agreement separating professional fees from government charges.
  • Walk away from anyone who guarantees an outcome. Nobody can.

General information, not migration advice. myPRJourney summarises publicly available information about Australian visas so you can understand your options. It does not assess your case, and it is not a substitute for advice from a registered migration agent (MARN) or Australian legal practitioner. Migration rules, occupation lists, income thresholds and state nomination criteria change frequently and sometimes without notice. This page was last reviewed on 21 July 2026.
